Elon Musk May Host Dogecoin Sketch On SNL

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is set to host Saturday Night Live on May 8. He has pitched sketch premises in preparation for the event via social media, and one of those ideas features Dogecoin.

Based on his Twitter comments, Musk plans to do a sketch about Dogecoin—the fourth largest cryptocurrency on the market.

“Throwing out some skit ideas for [Saturday Night Live]…What should I do?” Musk asked on Twitter.

One commenter suggested the Musk do “something about the Dogefather,” implying that Musk could play up his influence over Dogecoin in a pastiche of The Godfather film series.

In response to the idea, Musk stated “definitely.”

It remains to be seen if Musk will develop the idea into a full sketch, mention Dogecoin in his opening monologue, or abandon the idea altogether. Still, it is likely that Musk will mention it at some point.

Musk Has Become a Crypto Celebrity

In recent months, Musk has become well-known for his decision to support cryptocurrency. In February, Tesla bought $1.5 billion of Bitcoin, and in March, it began to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment for its line of electric vehicles.

Meanwhile, Musk’s casual endorsement of the “joke” cryptocurrency Dogecoin has boosted its market value.

That has earned him affection from the Dogecoin community, as well as attracting some level of notoriety due to the fact that Dogecoin’s rapidly rising prices may not be sustainable.

If Musk puts an emphasis on Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies during his upcoming SNL appearance, the topic could reach approximately 9 million viewers. The extra publicity could influence the price of Tesla stocks and cryptocurrencies alike.
